Captain Graham Cresswell

First Aid for Pilots

the management of in-flight medical events

I've subtitled this course "the management of in-flight medical events" because I'm not going to teach you to tie a bandage.  The cabin crew are trained for that and I can think of no circumstances where your contribution would be greater out of your seat than in it.  The pilots' rôles in a medical emergency are to fly the aircraft, orchestrate resources and bring the event to an optimal conclusion.  This means flying the aircraft, expeditiously but safely, preferably to the destination but, if not, to a sensible diversion where the casualty can expect significantly better care than is available on the aeroplane.

The course takes about 40 minutes to complete if you get all the questions right!  It might take a little longer if you don't.
